A Hot Summer Day In 1998
Can Junior survive the summer heat?
It was another summer day in June in Leland, NC. Two boys were in their mobile home with their mom, watching a movie. Their dad was at work in Wilmington. The oldest boy Junior (who was nine at the time) was happy to be out of school for the summer.
He was enjoying watching cartoons, playing the Sega Genesis, and being outdoors in a way that he couldn’t when he was in school.
Junior was relaxing and watching tv — when his mom, out of the blue told him to go outside and play.
‘’Yes ma’am’’ Junior responded.
His youngest brother Antwan (who was three)remained inside with his mom.
Junior went to put his shoes on before going outside in blazing hot weather. The heat took him by surprise, but he figured he would only be outside for a few minutes and then go back inside the trailer. Junior wondered for a few minutes what he would get himself into first.
After contemplating for a few minutes, he thought of building a KFC in the dirt in his yard. KFC was one of Junior’s favorite food places to eat. So he thought he could build one in the dirt, that it would somehow turn into that huge KFC building that was in Wilmington.
