As The Cruise Ship Rises
The medium-size cruise ship named American Liberty was heading to Portland, Maine after leaving Boston thirty minutes ago.
An announcement was made on the intercom from the Captain that the ship was going to change course & take a different route into the ocean to get to its next destination much faster.
A 24-year-old steward named Calvin listened with emphasis while he was sweeping in the hallway near the Helm. After the Captain’s speech was over, he could immediately feel the change of directions by how the ship was moving. The water went from almost calm waves to heavy ones.
Calvin could hear this eerie noise as the ship would slowly go up & down in a hostile ocean.
An individual made their way out of the helm room. It was the Captain herself. The middle-aged-looking individual was heading toward the galley. She smiled at Calvin while she walked past him, Calvin gave a smile back to her. He was surprised that the Captain would acknowledge him at all. Calvin was grateful nevertheless as he continued cleaning the hallway.
A heavy wave caused the cruise ship to go up really high in the ocean, causing Calvin & others on the ship to lose their footing. It was getting harder for Calvin to concentrate on cleaning. The next wave that was felt had a lot of water go over the ship. Calin looked at the…
