Building Trust With Your Readers
There are a lot of articles on Medium that touch on how to write and who to write for.
Certain writers give the advice to write what the people want( depending on what that is). Other writers believe in writing what they want to write about. Then you have the “experts” that want to play God and tell you you’re not a true writer — because you don’t write to their liking.
There are all kinds of advice on what you should write on here.
‘’So what about you, Gerald, do you write for yourself or for your readers?’’
My answer: I write for both.
I write for myself in terms of the subjects I want to touch on. And I write for my readers who read my writings, in terms of hoping I write in a way that they get something out of my creations in a positive way.
Some readers enjoy writers attacking them & being edgy in an uncomfortable way. I don’t. I tune out real quick on that kind of stuff. But, if those writer’s fans like it, more power to them.
I believe you have to earn & build trust with potential readers (and other writers) that have an interest in your writing.
It’s like your favorite actors/ actresses. Your favorite performers had to build trust in you with their performances, to the point when you see their name…
