It was another typical day working at this Amazon Warehouse in San Antonio as a housekeeper in 2016. I was 27 then. I was cleaning & making sure there were enough spoons, forks, knives, and other supplies in the break room, before the workers out on the floor, who were working on getting packages ready to be shipped, would head there on their break.

The break alarm went off. It was their time to relax for a few minutes in the break room or wherever they would take their break at. I would usually go hide in a closet nearby the breakroom every time break time came along for them— until the heat cooled off, and everyone went back to work.

After their break time was up, I waited a little longer until there weren’t too many workers in the breakroom. I left the closet and prepared myself to sweep the floor & clean all the tables in there.

There was this older woman that I would say hi to every now and then, ever since I met her out on the floor. She looked like she was in her late 60s/ early 70s. I never got her name, but she had this bubbly personality that I really liked. I saw her standing up and looking at the tv, while other workers continued to leave the break room. She was watching CNN.
