February 8th

It’s you again old friend
Sitting with a smile in the stands

We haven’t seen each other since last year
You waited until my birthday was near

You were there when I came into this world
Out of all the legions of people who came in and out of my life,

you remained in the shadows,

until you felt your presence was necessary

And now here you are again

Seeing me turn 34 years old

Every year when I see you

a lightness comes over me

happiness arrives with glee

To see

Another birthday to celebrate

Another year to elaborate

Through these words, I write

Hoping they give someone much-needed light

from the darkness that surrounds them

in their mind and heart

It’s a start

Let our joy empower others through life

Thank you…you…and you and you and you.

While I was writing this, I was vibing to this instrumental:
