1. Is Your Medium Name Real or Penned?
Yep. My Medium name is real. I didn’t know it was real until I started going to kindergarten. Before then, I thought my name was Junior because that's the name I heard my family call me (And still call me to this day!). I later would learn that my dad is Gerald Sr.
So when I started hearing and seeing this other name, Gerald, it was confusing at first, because I never heard my first name said to me, until I went to school.
2. Why Did You Choose To Write Under It?
When I opened up an account on Medium, I thought everyone used their real name on here, until I learned months later that not everyone used their real name. That was mind-blowing to me! I didn’t know it was possible that writers could use pen names to write under.
A lot of medium writers have cool pen names like Lu Skerdoo. I thought that whole name was real for a long time. LOL! Sometimes I thought about using some of the nicknames I’ve been given over the years like Toe, G, Bill Cosby, and Big Man. I think I’m good with using my real name though. Haha.
I salute everyone that uses other names though. I see y’all!
