“Give Me The Claps That I Want"

A month ago, I read an article that was about the writer not liking their readers giving them one clap on their posts. They demanded 40/50 claps on each of their articles.

After I was done reading that triggering article, my reaction was….

I couldn’t believe what I had read. The nerve. The audacity to complain about getting one like instead of getting 50 claps on your articles is straight asinine to me.

Now me (being the petty person that I can be at times), If I was a follower of this particular writer? I would be motivated to unfollow them after I gave their article one clap.

Talking down to your readers is a great way to get them to hate you. Too many writers on Medium do it though. I don’t get it? Having this attitude as if you’re above your readers doesn’t make you edgy…it makes you look pitiful. If you’re trying to recharge your ego? This isn’t the way to go about it.

That writer who knows that article — should be grateful that readers clapped for their stuff at all. Whether it’s 50 claps, 25 claps, or 1. A clap is a…
