Going From Sizzling San Antonio To Cool Connecticut Was A Weather Shock To Me

Five years ago, in April, I flew from San Antonio, Texas to Guilford, Connecticut to do my training for the American Cruise Lines job that I got.

My excitement to have the opportunity to work on a cruise ship was through the roof.

This was uncharted waters for me.

When I told my family that I would be working on a cruise ship, they were ecstatic for me!

My oldest sister told me that I was the first person in our whole family to have worked on a cruise ship.

That news made me feel proud to know that I achieved something that wasn’t done before.

A part of me had a hard time believing that — because my family is so LARGE.

Someone in our family had to have worked on a cruise ship before me, but if I’m the first to do it, I’ll take it!

The day that I flew out, it was hot in San Antonio, Texas. Summer had already arrived with the sun beaming hard on the city.
