I’ve been a fan of actor Idris Elba ever since I saw him in a 2005 movie called The Gospel. Everyone else in the film was solid in their roles, but Idris had a commanding presence that made me pay attention to him whether a scene came up with him in it.

I remember thinking to myself ‘’Who is this man? This man can act’’ because Idris at that time was unknown to me.

After seeing him in that movie, I made sure to remember his name.

Then I saw him in the movie Daddy Little Girls. Once again, he commanded the screen in every scene he was in. I felt sorry for his character in the movie and all he went through. I desperately wanted him to win in that movie. Thankfully he did win in the end.

As time passed on, I would start to see him in more stuff like the movies ‘’This Christmas, The Harder They Fall, Beast’’ or the TV series ‘’Luther’’.

I was gobsmacked when I found out that Idris was British.

For a while, I thought the man was an American. When I heard him speaking in his native voice, that was the greatest thing ever to me. I really admire…
