I saw this movie a lot too when I was a kid with my family. My favorite line in that movie is “Time to go...time to go, that’s right Mister, it’s time to go".

My sisters had the book. Even though I never read it, I thought it was neat how the cover of the book was like the movie cover.

Image-wise, I felt like The Color Purple captured the American South better than any other movie (besides O Brother, Where Art Thou) so much, that I thought they shot the film in North Carolina.

Those fields and Mister house felt like they came out of Leland, NC!
