I Want To Be A Centenarian When I Grow Up
There’s still a chance as long as we’re breathing
Until a few years ago, I didn’t know that there was a name for people who lived in their 100s. They’re called Centenarians.
A centenarian is a person who has reached the age of 100 years. Because life expectancies worldwide are below 100 years, the term is invariably associated with longevity.
There’s even a name for people who are living in their 110s! Those humans are called Supercentenians.
A supercentenarian (sometimes hyphenated as super-centenarian) is a person who has reached the age of 110 years. This age is achieved by about one in 1,000 centenarians.[1] Supercentenarians typically live a life free of major age-related diseases until shortly before the maximum human lifespan is reached.
Even rarer is a person who has lived to 115 — there are 62 people in recorded history who have undisputably reached this age
Crazily enough, we have three supercentenarians that are still with us. Lucile Randon is leading the charge as the oldest person living on this earth. The other two are Maria Branas Morera and Fusa Tatsumi.
