It’s been two years since I set foot in the Lord’s house. I went to go see two friends of mine I had met at True Vine Baptist Church, get married there in 2019. Before that, it had been five years since I had gone to church consistently.

I think a combination of getting church fatigued, seeing a lot of church members I knew moved to other places, feeling like I didn’t belong there anymore & the constant drama that happened behind the scenes became harder to overlook for me. I just needed a break from it.

When I went to my first True Vine service here in Texas, it rocked my world! I had never seen a church look like they were having fun praising the Lord. I was used to going to a small traditional baptist church in North Carolina where you saw middle-aged & elderly men/women singing old traditional gospel songs.

So attending True Vine was a cultural shock for my family & me in 2004 (a welcome one at that). Soon enough, I would be a part of the youth choir there. The times I had with that choir was some of the best ever in my life. The bond I had with that group was magical. We sounded really good signing those modern gospel songs & having fun at the same time.
