Portland, Maine: The Final Visits

Just when you thought you’ve seen it all

On the last three trips to Portland, there was always another place that would catch my eye that I overlooked in my previous visits. I was always ecstatic when we would land in Portland — because the energy in the city gave me life… every time!

I would catch other co-workers (Stewards & Deckhands) walking & enjoying themselves in their regular clothes with their hair down & free when they were off the ship.

Each time I went back to Portland, there was a new surprise that made me go ‘’They had this place here too?’’. It was like finding treasure in hidden areas that nobody but the Portlanders knew about. The more we would visit Portland, the easier it was for me to go into the city, as if I had lived there my whole life.

If I wanted to go to Subway, I knew how to get there with ease. If I wanted ice cream, there were several places I could go to, like Bill’s Pizza or a place somewhere Downtown. There’s something for everyone in Portland.

This sign looked so cool to me! Photo by the Author
