That surgery experience sounded like a nightmare for you. I'm sorry you went through that. Hopefully this didn't happen recently.

I believe your friends didn't show/give you the proper attention that you needed, going through something that heavy. Just my opinion.

And unless it's someone I know that I can say more than "I'm good.", I just stick with "I'm good" or "good". Another great topic/read.
