The Trojans Should Have Checked The Trojan Horse Before Accepting It

What a mess

It’s easy to type that title with my 2023 mind. But the Trojans should have inspected that horse and sliced up the Greek soldiers inside the horse before accepting it into their city. Either that or destroy it.

The Greeks may have defeated them eventually, but Troy would have lasted a lot longer if only they didn’t accept that horse.

The story of the Trojan War is an intriguing one. It all started because Paris (a prince of Troy) wanted Queen Helen, the wife of Menelaus, the king of Sparta, and the brother of the scheming Agamemnon, who was King of Mycenae.

Paris succeeds in bringing Helen back to Troy. Paris’s father, King Priam was the ruler of Troy.

A furious Menelaus wants Agamemnon to lead an expedition to bring Helen back to him. Agamemnon gets a large army with him to sail to Troy. That army included heavy hitters like Achilles and Odysseus, while the trojan side had a heavy hitter of their own in Prince Hector, who would lead the trojans and their allies in their fight against the Greeks.

Hector is also a son of King Priam and the older brother to Paris.
