This reminds me of those YouTube ads that tell you that they have something to tell you.

Again, you remind the listener that something crazy is about to happen, but instead of just saying it, you continue to give an entire backstory of your day. At this point, the listener is wanting to scream, “WHAT HAPPENED?”
