Wasted Compliments
Compliments are like money. You want to spend it right every time, only, we don’t spend it right all the time.
It would be great if we could get an A-plus on every compliment we want to give to others, but, there will be a lot of moments where we won’t achieve our goal of having a compliment appreciated by the receiver.
When those moments happen, it can be a whirlwind of uncomfortable feelings that arise after the compliment fails to create the reaction we want. We may feel low, embarrassed, shame, stupid & guilty for even thinking that the person we desire or just admire would be in a bubbly mood after hearing our compliment to them.
I believe it's safe to say that everyone hates wasting a compliment on an unappreciative person.
Most guys hate this. Something that can irritate a guy is when a compliment went to waste on a woman he was into — when he could have kept that compliment in his wallet, and saved it for someone else more appreciative.
Sure, we can say that the proper thing is to act like it doesn’t matter if she responds well to it or not & act with grace, but, as we all learn, feelings don’t care about responding well or being the person. We HOPE that she reacts positively to the compliment or our mission was a failure.
