When I Think Of King Lear, I Think Of James Earl Jones
RIP King Jones
I think it’s safe to say that the world knows by now that the great actor, James Earl Jones passed away two days ago at 93 years old. 93 isn’t a bad run at life. Hopefully, we all get that many years in our human form and to impact others as he did through his acting work.
He had a remarkable career as an actor/performer. I’ve been looking through his filmography for the last two days and marveled at how incredibly prolific he was.
He was in so many projects that I forgot he was a part of like Roots: The Next Generations miniseries and the Disney John Henry cartoon as the narrator.
His unforgettable voice roles as King Mufasa and Darth Vader in the early Star Wars movies and The Lion King alone are enough to put him in GOAT status. But to add everything he’s been a part of along with those two works makes his resume even more staggering.
One of his acting performances that will always come to my mind when I think of James Earl Jones is his amazing portrayal of King Lear in a play that he did in the 1970s.
I can’t remember exactly if I saw his King Lear play on Netflix or YouTube. But I watched the play with my oldest sister in the late aughts/early 10s. She put me onto many great TV shows/movies like…
